Case History Robotic Part Racking System

Customer Problem:

Radco Industries machineryIn order to reduce part cost the customer needed to reduce the labor content of their machined parts. The parts are coming off a CNC turning machine either randomly or aligned. The parts needed to be inserted into the customer’s tray with as little operator involvement as possible.  Several machines also required the parts to be inspected with a GO/NO-GO gauge prior to being placed in the rack.

Our Solution:

robotic gasketing, finish and cure partsWe offered the Radco Industries robotic part racking system that mates up to a Mikron® machining center or similar machine tool and performs the load and unload operations.  Part blanks are bulk loaded into the racking system and then loaded into the machining center to be processed.  After the machining is complete, the Radco Industries robotic part racking system removes the part from the part discharge of the machining center and places them into racks for shipping or washing.  The separation and orientation of the bulk feed blanks and the incoming and outgoing rack handling is automatically managed allowing one operator to tend to several systems at once.  The Radco Industries robotic part racking system has a flexible design that can be easily adapted to your machining center and parts while being able to achieve cycle times as fast as 2 seconds part to part.

Radco Industries Robotics Integration
for efficient production

Radco Industries
has been offering our clients custom automation solutions since 1962. As technology and machines have changed and evolved, our business has stayed current with the trends and developments to create custom machinery and Robotic solutions that best meet the needs of our customers.  Radco Industries’ engineers have experience developing creative and innovative solutions that maximize your Return on Investment.  Radco Industries has implemented many successful applications such as Robotic gasketing, Load/Unload, Pick and Place, and Assembly.

Radco Industries offers a Robotic "Form In Place (FIP)" Gasket System that will finish and cure parts quickly and efficiently. This system applies a “FIP” two-part catalyzed urethane foam gasket on 3.6 million per year PVC electrical box lids per year, in 13 sizes from 1"x3" to 12"x12".

The Robotic "Form In Place (FIP)" Gasket System consists of a three-position rotary index table with quick change tooling nests. The nests hold from 1 to 36 parts per pallet, depending on size. At Station 1, the operator loads the lids. At Station 2, a Fanuc 710iB robot dispenses the liquid urethane gasket utilizing a two-part meter mix system. At Station 3, a Fanuc LR 100iB unloads with a vacuum pick-up and places an entire row of parts onto our custom designed and built curing conveyor with special high humidity section and 160 degree F infrared curing. The finished/cured parts drop into the finished goods bin. Cycle time for the Robotic "Form In Place (FIP)" Gasket System is approximately 4 seconds per part. All part parameters, material, dispense path, unload etc. are downloaded with HMI entry of a part number.
